Hi everyone, this is my blog. I hope you enjoy reading it and learning more about my thoughts on topics :)
Of course, I will steer clear of any sensitive topics and anything I’m primarily working on, so if you see a post about a topic here, it is most probably something that I am not working on or my primary areas of interest as I generally don’t talk about my work or primary foci (and by extension, anything that organisations I am associated with might be working on. If I end up working at a tarsier conservation place I’d never post again).
I think this space would be more of a space to share my thoughts and personal reflections, or things that I’ve been up to as a change of pace.

People who know me know that I do lots of word puzzles and games like the NYT crossword. It’s a natural progression to realise that you can draw things with Wordle and an even more natural progression (because it’s me) to combine it with a tarsier idea.

So recently I got an email that shared with me the upcoming season of an orchestra that I used to play in but don’t play in for the main reason that I do not exist in two places at once. They have a history of really good repertoire choices and it got me thinking about the favourite pieces (and sections of pieces) I’ve played on a solo, chamber and orchestral level.
Purpose and Passion - Jul 03, 2025
I’ve been thinking about what my purpose in life is and what I’m passionate about. I’ve had a pretty good idea about what my purpose is, so it’s more been about checking and recalibrating my actions to ensure that there is a degree of alignment between the things that I do and my purpose. I know, #deepthoughts, but now that I’m in a position to have time and space, it’s good for me to slow down and reflect on this.

This summer break, I’m going all in on intentional practice and learning about different areas. I’ve always wanted my vacation periods to be full of learning and focus, but for some reason or other I never really had the chance to execute. So I’m making up for lots of past summers gone by and working the hardest I’ve ever worked in my time in university.
On Birthdays - Jun 29, 2025
So I recently turned 24. Generally I prefer to skip the big celebrations wherever possible – this is the case for most things I’ve done: skip the post-event parties, go home, get ready for the next day of work. If I wanted to celebrate, I’d add in some small treats in my cooking. This doesn’t mean I don’t celebrate the wins in my life: I’ve added these small treats so many times that I’ve ended up with a different problem about spending too much on food. This is not any different for my birthday.

Playing the System - Apr 15, 2025
I’m thankful for my old chess teacher for this one. When I was nine, the national chess federation in my country had a programme where they taught everyone in development groups the Open Sicilian (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6/d6/e6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 … ). Every week was dedicated to teaching a main line of the Sicilian – Scheveningen, Dragon, Najdorf – and we’d then play against each other for a rated match. This was also seen in competitive play throughout the age-group championships and school championships.
