About

About my university life

I’m a final year Electrical and Electronics Engineering undergraduate student at Imperial.

My areas of interest - even within EEE - are very diverse. Currently, I am particularly interested in analogue IC design and semiconductor devices. I also have a keen interest in digital design, microwave technology, signal processing, control and power, having done previous projects outside of the university curriculum in these areas.

I am a believer in making the groups I’m in better. In university, I have been involved as the year wellbeing representative for my cohort, sitting on student-staff committee meetings to best represent students. I was also the Chair (2024/25) of the Imperial College Symphony Orchestra, setting new standards, strengthening the culture, navigating the orchestra through the renovation of our home, the Great Hall, while doubling the number of patrons and bringing in corporate sponsorships for the first time to the orchestra. I was the vice-chair (2023/24, 2024/25) of the Imperial College Sinfonietta, where we navigated the change to a new conductor and organised a successful weekend away to Bath. I was also the Industrial Liaison Officer (2023/24, 2024/25) of EESoc, bringing in industry partners and organising EESoc’s Careers Fair. Previously, I led an alumni association of students studying in the UK from my high school, Raffles Institution, organising events and activities in partnership with the school and Singapore Global Network.

Giving back is important to me, and I have been a Recruitment and Outreach Student Ambassador for Imperial, where I have been involved in outreach activities such as the m*Aths Online Programme, STEM Potential and the Imperial College Open Day.

All opinions expressed here are my own and do not represent the views of Imperial College London or its associated organisations, or any of the organisations I am involved with through work or volunteering.

Event Organisation and Planning

Seeing an event come together is extremely satisfying for me. I have planned many events - from my time as a councillor in my Junior College’s Student Council, organising large-scale events for a school of over 2000 students, to organising concerts and receptions today for Imperial’s leadership and other leaders of industry and academia.

Regardless of whether it is a concert to raise funds for Friends of Medicins Sans Frontieres or a webinar series for high schools in India, I have come to enjoy the nuances of planning and executing events and am privileged that I have had so many opportunities to sharpen my skills.

I have worked as a University Engagement Intern at Cialfo, an EdTech company, supporting operations and the organisation and execution of events as Cialfo raised its Series B round.

Previously, I was a programmes manager with the ASEAN Youth Organisation, bringing youth from Southeast Asia together to discuss topics that are particularly relevant to the region - such as sustainability - through fora such as the ASEAN Youth Leaders’ Forum 2022.

Outside Work

I’m interested in music and writing. I have had pieces published by a boutique Singaporean literature publishing house and have previously been mentored by Koh Xin Tian and Checkpoint Theatre. Now, I’m a bit further removed from the world of theatre, but you can find my thoughts on my blog.

In my free time, I enjoy a good mental workout - I’m a chess player (patzer’s probably more accurate) and at one point I was among the top 100 active chess players in Singapore. But that’s really a stretch and I spend more time playing Horde on lichess these days.

I also enjoy Mahjong to the extent that I’ve won an Amazon voucher for winning a Mahjong tournament (LOL). I’m also big on puzzles hunts and have placed top of EMEA for Bpuzzled, Bloomberg’s puzzle competition, qualifying for the global finals twice in 2024 and 2025.

In a past life, I was a police officer with the Singapore Police Force as a Staff Officer (Operations) with the Public Transport Security Command, holding the rank of Inspector. I was awarded the Sword of Honour and Best in Professional Knowledge as the top graduating cadet and received a commendation for consistent good work and dedication to duty.

I do not disclose most of my work - most of what I’ve said can be found with a quick search online - but I will always say this: my work in my mandatory service is still one of the things I’m most proud of. It was an honour to serve and I still hold the values of courage, loyalty, integrity and fairness close to my heart.

P.S. I love tarsiers, they’re my favourite animal. My friend gave me a tarsier placemat for Christmas and I really like it.
